A customer recently contacted MinnPar who had purchased a 1600403 replacement joystick for their JLG 260MRT, 3369LE, 3394RT, or 4394RT scissor lift, and was having some trouble with the joystick.
Having issues with your joystick can be frustrating, but sometimes the fix is as easy as performing a calibration procedure using the JLG analyzer. In this article, we will go through the calibration process steps to install a 1600403 JLG replacement joystick.
Once the 1600403 JLG joystick controller is installed and connected, use the 2901443 JLG Analyzer Kit to follow these steps:
1. In Access Level 1, go to MENU: CALIBRATION: JOYSTICK and press ENTER. The analyzer will prompt with the following:
2. Move the joystick FORWARD and press ENTER.
3. Allow joystick to be in the CENTER position and press ENTER.
4. Move the joystick REVERSE and press ENTER.
5. CAL COMPLETE or CAL FAILED will display on the analyzer.
There are a few possible reasons for the calibration to fail, such as:
1. The forward position has a lower voltage than the reverse position, which may be a sign of a bad joystick which needs to be replaced.
2. The difference between center to forward and center to reverse must be at least 1 volt. Note: a new joystick should center properly upon installation. A calibration failure may be a sign the joystick is bad and should be replaced immediately.
